Finneytown is 0-10 against Taylor since April of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m.
Finneytown is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They came up short against Indian Hill, falling 19-5.
J'Uana Steele was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Bush, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Taylor made sure to put some runs up on the board against Madeira on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS with a sharp 13-1 victory.
Ellie Stafford made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Emma King was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Molly Ferguson, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Taylor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Taylor has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Finneytown, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Finneytown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .500. However, it's not like Taylor struggles in that department as they've averaged .458. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Finneytown might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Taylor in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
