Game recap: Santa Barbara High School Football Team tops Ventura

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Barbara (Calif.) saw its 15-point lead dwindle to eight, but still managed to hang on and defeat Ventura (Calif.) 25-17 on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a Shawn Ramos touchdown pass to James Stevens in the second quarter, the Dons led 15-10 at the half.

Santa Barbara expanded its lead to 15 points entering the fourth quarter. SB scored two times in the third, including once on a field goal by Matthew Medina.

The Cougars' Jake Lanski played well. The senior kicked one field goal.

The Dons' most effective player was Ramos. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.

Santa Barbara entered the contest giving up 18.0 points per game this year.



SB got revenge for last year's 34-14 loss to Ventura with the victory.

The defeat comes as a step back for Ventura, which notched a 29-21 victory over Buena in its previous outing.

In a Channel game next week Santa Barbara (7-2) takes on Dos Pueblos, and Ventura (5-4) will go up against San Marcos also in a Channel game.
