The Scottsdale Christian Academy Eagles will face off against the Glendale Prep Academy Griffins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Scottsdale Christian Academy 3.7, Glendale Prep Academy 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Thursday, Scottsdale Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, taking the game 4-1. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won eight in a row.
Dylan Tims spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Scottsdale Christian Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Green, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Glendale Prep Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Spartans. Considering the Griffins have won 11 contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Josiah Simms made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Nathaniel Jensen was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February of 2024. Corbin Kim was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Glendale Prep Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gilbert Classical Academy only posted a batting average of .190.
Glendale Prep Academy pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Scottsdale Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.
Both Scottsdale Christian Academy and Glendale Prep Academy just can't seem to miss. The Eagles have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Glendale Prep Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.4 hits.
