Basketball Recap: Fortune Early College Piles Up the Points Against Esparto

A well-balanced attack led Fortune Early College over Esparto in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Fortune Early College Panthers blew the Esparto Spartans out of the water with an 89-14 final score. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 34 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fortune Early College to victory, but perhaps none more so than Omarion Davis, who posted 14 points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Davis a new career-high in steals (two). Another player making a difference was Keagan Schrader, who earned 11 points.

When it comes to explaining why Esparto lost, don't look at Rocky Boyd. Despite the final result, he had six points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Boyd has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Yanez, who scored two points.

Fortune Early College has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.1 points over those games. As for Esparto, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Fortune Early College will challenge Elite at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive. Esparto does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
