Basketball Recap: Pinole Valley Comes Up Short

Pinole Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to the Menomonee Falls Phoenix on the road by a 74-57 margin. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 488th in California, while the Phoenix are ranked 64th in Wisconsin).

Despite the loss, Pinole Valley still got an impressive performance from Ahmari Otis, who posted 25 points. Amar Tudinovic was another key player, putting up 11 points and eight rebounds.

Pinole Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Menomonee Falls, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pinole Valley will take on Acalanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Menomonee Falls, they will square off against Marquette University at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
