Softball Recap: Broad Run Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Broad Run extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 11-9 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Loudoun County Captains. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Captains back in April, they had to take a 3-0 defeat.

Anna Weltens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Broad Run saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Annabelle Widding, who went 1-for-4 with one run.

As for Loudoun County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-7 record this season. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

On Loudoun County's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Keira Bertoglio gave up just two earned runs on two hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Sharon Manni was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

As of now, neither Broad Run nor Loudoun County have any future games scheduled.
