Basketball Game Preview: Park Crossing Thunderbirds vs. Carver Montgomery Wolverines

The Park Crossing Thunderbirds will venture away from home to face off against the Carver Montgomery Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Park Crossing is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Park Crossing was beaten by Dothan 66-31. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Wolves are ranked ninth).

Meanwhile, Carver Montgomery posted their closest win since November 20, 2023 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Percy Julian 71-69. The win almost wasn't to be: the Wolverines were down 39-24 in the second quarter.

Park Crossing better focus on containing Jharvey Deramus and Greg Tate as the pair were huge in Carver Montgomery's win. Deramus posted 13 points and five assists, while Tate put up 14 points along with six boards and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Amarian Griffin, who earned nine points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

With the victory, Carver Montgomery broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-4. As for Park Crossing, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Park Crossing took a serious blow against Carver Montgomery when the teams last played on December 3rd, falling 84-34. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Park Crossing was down 47-16.
