Volleyball Recap: Marquette Catholic Comes Up Short

Marquette Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Illiana Christian Vikings. If the Blazers were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Vikings when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Marquette Catholic was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Illiana Christian's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-20, 25-23.

Kira Oman paced Marquette Catholic's offense, picking up eight kills. Oman got some help from Sami Schenzel and her 26 assists. Oman was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Marquette Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Illiana Christian, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marquette Catholic will venture away from home to take on Michigan City at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Illiana Christian, they will head out to challenge Victory Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
