Basketball Recap: Marvin Ridge Starts Season with Win on the Road + How To Watch

Marvin Ridge had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 66-53 win over Mallard Creek on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Marvin Ridge also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2024.

Marvin Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Henry Smith led the charge by dropping a double-double with 22 points and ten boards. Fleet Payne was another key player, shooting 60% from the field to rack up 18 points.

Despite the loss, Mallard Creek still got an impressive performance from Jayden Williams, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston Cardwell, who put up ten points.

Mallard Creek's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Marvin Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-64 loss against Ardrey Kell on the 21st. As for Mallard Creek, they will take on Myers Park at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
