Basketball Recap: North Callaway Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Caleb Sheets and Austin Brown

North Callaway lost against Bowling Green back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The North Callaway Thunderbirds took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bowling Green Bobcats. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while the Bobcats are ranked 139th).

Despite the defeat, North Callaway had strong showings from Austin Brown, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 16 points and three steals, and Caleb Sheets, who posted nine points and seven steals. That's the most points Brown has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Cunningham, who put up six points.

North Callaway has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. Bowling Green pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Looking ahead, North Callaway will challenge Mark Twain at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bowling Green does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
