Recap: Tampa Bay Tech Titans vs. Armwood Hawks
The Tampa Bay Tech Titans pushed their score all the way to 34 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Armwood at home by a decisive 51-34 margin. Tampa Bay Tech was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Armwood apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Tampa Bay Tech's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Xzavier Jackson, who threw for 236 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Dallas Wilson, who picked up 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Girard Pringle was his usual excellent self, rushing for 200 yards and three touchdowns. Pringle hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games. Rhys Brush was another key contributor, rushing for 43 yards and a touchdown.
This is the second loss in a row for Tampa Bay Tech and nudges their season record down to 8-2. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 Jesuit (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 83.3% over those games). As for Armwood, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Tampa Bay Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Armwood will be playing in front of their home fans against Lennard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lennard is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
