Basketball Game Preview: Morenci Wildcats vs. St. Johns Redskins

The Morenci Wildcats will take on the St. Johns Redskins at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Morenci sitting on four straight victories and St. Johns on three.

On Thursday, Morenci strolled past St. Augustine Catholic with points to spare, taking the game 69-53. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Wolves are ranked 330th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, everything went St. Johns' way against Pinon on Thursday as St. Johns made off with a 62-36 win.

St. Johns' victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Morenci, their win bumped their record up to 16-3.

Everything went Morenci's way against St. Johns in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as Morenci made off with a 56-35 victory. Does Morenci have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Johns turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
