MaxPreps Top 25 high school football scores: No. 23 Baylor faces No. 25 McCallie in huge Tennessee showdown

No. 22 Miami Central locks horns with rival Miami Northwestern on Saturday.

It's a big week for rivalry games in high school football led by a showdown in Tennessee between No. 23 Baylor (Chattanooga) and No. 25 McCallie (Chattanooga)

Baylor (5-0) is loaded with talent led by Briggs CherryDavid Gabriel-Georges and Gabe Osenda. McCallie (5-1) notched a huge win over then-ranked Mission Viejo (Calif.) two weeks ago. 

This will be the 95th meeting between the schools with the first coming in 1905. Baylor owns a 46-45-3 edge in the series but McCallie has won nine of the last 12.

No. 22 Central (Miami)  was one of three new teams to join the MaxPreps Top 25 this week and has a huge matchup Saturday against a talented Northwestern (Miami) squad. This will be the 30th meeting since 2004 with Central holding a 15-14 edge. 



No. 5 Centennial (Corona, Calif.) was the only MaxPreps Top 25 team to play on Thursday and cruised to a 62-20 win over Roosevelt (Eastvale, Calif.) to give Matt Logan his 300th win as head coach. 

Southern California's Trinity League gets underway as No. 1 St. John Bosco (Bellflower) plays at JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano), No. 6 Mater Dei (Santa Ana) faces Orange Lutheran (Orange) and No. 16 Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita) takes on Servite (Anaheim). All three games are on Friday at 7 p.m.

No. 2 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) looks to add another quality win to its resume as it hosts The First Academy (Orlando, Fla.) on Friday. The Royals have won four in a row after suffering losses to Milton (Ga.) and Central (Phenix City, Ala.) by a combined 10 points. 

No. 9 Buford (Ga.) looks to put a halt to a streaking Collins Hill (Suwanee) squad that has won four in a row by an average margin of 37.5 points per game. The Wolves have won the last three meetings in the series by an average margin of 30 points per game. 

No. 19 De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) hosts Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) in a matchup of undefeated teams. The Spartans defense is allowing 6.6 points per game and they have one of the best rushing attacks in the state led by Duece Jones-Drew and Jaden Jefferson, who have combined to rush for 723 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Dons are led by one of the best two-way players in the country in five-star Honor Fa'alave-Johnson.
