Basketball Recap: Dunnellon Comes Up Short at Home Against Lecanto

Dunnellon unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 44-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lecanto Panthers on Tuesday. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Panthers since Tuesday.

Aleena Borgus had a dynamite game For Lecanto., dropping a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds. What's more, Borgus posted two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kasidee Florio, who put up 11 points and five steals.

Looking ahead, Dunnellon will welcome North Marion at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Lecanto, they will head out to square off against Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
