Basketball Recap: Alex Estrada's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bay City over Wharton

Bay City was the 57-50 winner over Wharton when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Bay City Blackcats fell to the Wharton Tigers 59-55. The Blackcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bay City lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Alex Estrada, who went 6 for 15 en route to 19 points and three steals. Estrada is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Javius Andrews was another key player, going 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points and three steals.

It was another big night for Jacoryan Dickerson, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds for Wharton. Another player making a difference was Ja'Keon Jackson, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and five steals.

Bay City's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Wharton, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 21-11.

Bay City will challenge Needville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bay City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season. As for Wharton, they will square off against Brazosport at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Wharton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
