Soccer Game Preview: Thompson vs. Oak Mountain

Thompson hasn't had much luck against Oak Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Warriors will square off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m.

Thompson is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alabama's top teams: Auburn, who was ranked 20th at the time (Thompson was ranked 14th). The Warriors fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1 on Friday. Having soared to a lofty six goals in the game before, Thompson couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Oak Mountain put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Indian Springs a 4-0 shutout. Oak Mountain might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 21 matches by three goals or more this season.

Sam Collins and Roy Soldevilla scored all four of Oak Mountain's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 45 goals.

Thompson's loss dropped their record down to 15-8-1. As for Oak Mountain, they pushed their record up to 27-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Thompson might still be hurting after the 5-1 defeat they got from Oak Mountain when the teams last played back in February. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
