Basketball Recap: Nocona Takes a Loss

Nocona suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Saturday. They came up short against the Farwell Steers, falling 63-38. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Steers are ranked 35th).

Makylee Baldwin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Farwell, going 10 for 21 on her way to 21 points in addition to eight assists and six boards. The dominant performance gave Baldwin a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Jaime, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.

Nocona's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Farwell, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-3.

Nocona has already played their next matchup, a 58-39 win against Comanche on the 28th. As for Farwell, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-29 victory against Christoval on the 28th.
