North Mecklenburg has gone a perfect 10-0 against West Charlotte recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. North Mecklenburg has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

North Mecklenburg is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Hopewell just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Titans, falling 18-6.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when West Charlotte took on Chambers on Tuesday. The Lions walked away with a 10-6 win over the Cougars. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won eight in a row.

Enijah Gary made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor B, who went 2-for-3 with seven stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Victelle M was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs.

North Mecklenburg's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for West Charlotte, their record now sits at 7-9.

Everything went North Mecklenburg's way against West Charlotte in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as North Mecklenburg made off with a 15-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
