Recap: Union City Indians vs. Union Rockets

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian, the Union City Indians were happy to have found some success on Friday. They greeted the New Year with with a 52-38 win over Union. That's another feather in the cap for Union City, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Union City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camryn Fischer, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Fischer's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gabby Ordonez, who scored 16 points.

Despite the loss, Union saw an underclassman step up: Kenzy Ogden dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Glory Ellis was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three blocks.

Even though they lost, Union were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Union City now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Union, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Union City will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Monroe Central on January 6th. As for Union, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Blue River Valley at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Blue River Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
