Softball Recap: Cambria Heights Now 9-3 over Last 12 Games

There's no place like home for Cambria Heights, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past the Portage Mustangs 16-1 on Monday. The Highlanders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by nine runs or more this season.

Rylee Lane looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Margaret Elias was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Hallie Hayes, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Cambria Heights always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Portage only posted an OBP of .294.

Cambria Heights has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Portage, they moved to 5-14 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Cambria Heights will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
