Basketball Recap: River Ridge Starts Season with Win on the Road

River Ridge had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the De Soto Pirates by a score of 46-36. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Timberwolves also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2024.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kylee Venner, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Venner is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. Maria Garcia was another key player, putting up four points along with five assists and five boards.

River Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-26 loss against Fennimore on the 24th. As for De Soto, they will take on Brookwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
