Garden Spot has gone a perfect 3-0 against Columbia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Garden Spot Spartans will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Columbia Crimson Tide at 4:15 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.
Garden Spot is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Lebanon. Garden Spot blew past Lebanon 17-2 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Cedars: they've now won five in a row.
Ryder Hertzler was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Hertzler was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Madix Bracken was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Connor Manning was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
Garden Spot always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lebanon only posted an OBP of .391.
Meanwhile, Columbia never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on York Catholic with a sharp 10-0 victory.
Like Garden Spot, Columbia also got a great game from a two-way player: John Buzzendore. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Buzzendore was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Chase Marley was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cooper Marley, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Garden Spot skirted past Columbia 4-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. Will Garden Spot repeat their success, or does Columbia have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
