Basketball Game Preview: Music Mountain Warriors vs. Rock Point Cougars

The Music Mountain Warriors will take on the Rock Point Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Music Mountain didn't have quite enough to beat Kingman and fell 44-42. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Music Mountain had strong showings from Aliyania Matuck, who went 8 of 12 en route to 19 points along with eight rebounds and six steals, and Elizabeth Walema, who posted 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Matuck is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Rock Point entered their tilt with St. Michael on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Cardinals, posting a 65-30 victory. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 33 points or more this season.

Rock Point's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Music Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Music Mountain was dealt a bruising 68-12 loss at the hands of Rock Point when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Music Mountain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
