Softball Recap: Mize Wins Going Away Against Scott Central

It's playoff time, and Mize had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Scott Central Rebels with a sharp 19-2 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 11 games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Ella Gordon made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mize got a massive performance out of Marissa Reyes, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Reyes a new career-high. Lizanna Waters was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Mize is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Scott Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Mize will have a chance to go back-to-back against Scott Central: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
