Basketball Recap: Jay County Takes a Loss

Jay County lost against Delta back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between the Jay County Patriots and the Delta Eagles didn't end well, with the Jay County Patriots falling 60-44. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 278th, while the Eagles are ranked 44th).

Delta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Furney, who went 9 for 14 on his way to 20 points and three steals. Those 20 points gave Furney a new career-high. Bronson Edwards was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Jay County's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Delta, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Jay County will head out to square off against Wapahani at 7:30 p.m. on December 28th. As for Delta, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 49-46 win against Muncie Central on the 21st.
