Baseball Recap: Summers County Comes Up Short

Summers County came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-3 to the Shady Spring Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bobcats of the 1-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Robey Brown was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Summers County's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-6-1 when he doesn't). Cody Snavely was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Summers County has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7-1 record this season. As for Shady Spring, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-8-1.
