Soccer Recap: Cienega Takes a Loss

Cienega fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Buena on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Buena Colts by a score of 3-2. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Colts apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Cayla Jones and Kylie Krebs scored both of Cienega's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 24 goals.

Cienega's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-3. As for Buena, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cienega will face off against Catalina Foothills at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Catalina Foothills will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Cienega surely won't give up without a fight. As for Buena, they will square off against Desert View at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Buena is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.7 goals per game this season.
