Volleyball Recap: Taylor Savella and Marie Terrones Secure Win for Cabrillo

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Atascadero, Cabrillo was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Carpinteria Warriors by a score of 3-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Conquistadores also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 22-25, 25-22, 25-7.

Leading Cabrillo to victory were Marie Terrones and Taylor Savella. Terrones had 19 digs and four aces, while Savella had seven assists and four aces. That's the most aces Terrones has posted over her last six games. Chloe Parr also deserves some recognition as she had her first digs of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Cabrillo was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 23 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces in three consecutive matches.

Cabrillo's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-8. As for Carpinteria, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Cabrillo will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against San Luis Obispo Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on the 9th. As for Carpinteria, they will challenge Santa Paula at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season.
