Baseball Game Preview: Westchester Country Day Wildcats vs. Calvary Day School Cougars

The Westchester Country Day Wildcats will square off against the Calvary Day School Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westchester Country Day has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Westchester Country Day took on Calvary Day School on Tuesday. The Wildcats took a 20-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars.

For Calvary Day School's part, Patrick Reynolds and Kaden Christian made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Reynolds tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. In other batting news, Matthew Harrell and Austin Setliff did most of the damage at the plate: Harrell scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Setliff scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Setliff a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Grande, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Calvary Day School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .628. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Calvary Day School's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Westchester Country Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
