Volleyball Recap: Arvada West Falls Short Against Ranked Niwot

Arvada West faced Niwot in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wildcats lost 3-0 to the Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Arvada West was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-18, 25-23.

Kevin Reardon paced Arvada West's offense, picking up ten kills. Reardon got some help from Kei Martin and his 23 assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Arvada West and nudges their season record down to 12-7. As for Niwot, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Arvada West will welcome Greeley Central at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Niwot, they will take on Douglas County in a tournament on Saturday.
