Baseball Recap: Holy Name Has No Trouble Against Solon

Holy Name hadn't done well against Solon recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Green Wave put the hurt on the Comets with a sharp 14-6 win. The Green Wave not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024 (when they won 15-6).

Harrison Frank looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Nick Nemeth was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Brendon Preisel also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Holy Name always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Holy Name and bumps their season record up to 3-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Solon, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Name will square off against Archbishop McNicholas at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Solon, they will head out to face off against Nordonia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
