Volleyball Recap: Campo Verde Triumphs

Campo Verde's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Desert Mountain Wolves. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Coyotes also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Campo Verde was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-17, 22-25, 25-16.

Campo Verde found their leader in sophomore Kendal Kellar, who had 19 digs and six assists. Those 19 digs set a new season-high mark for Kellar.

Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maryjane Cockrill, who had 24 digs. With that strong performance, Cockrill is now averaging an impressive 10.1 digs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Miranda McDonald, who had 18 digs and one assist.

Campo Verde's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Desert Mountain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.

Looking ahead, Campo Verde will head out on the road to square off against Desert Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Desert Mountain, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Flagstaff on the 19th.
