Basketball Game Preview: East Marshall Mustangs vs. Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebels

East Marshall hasn't had much luck against Gladbrook-Reinbeck recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The East Marshall Mustangs will take on the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebels at 7:45 p.m. East Marshall knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Gladbrook-Reinbeck likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, East Marshall was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 75-71 to Aplington-Parkersburg. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Falcons are ranked 26th).

Meanwhile, Gladbrook-Reinbeck entered their tilt with Dike-New Hartford on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 54-44 victory over the Wolverines.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for East Marshall, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Things could have been worse for East Marshall, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 74-55 loss to Gladbrook-Reinbeck in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can East Marshall avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
