Softball Recap: Kearns' Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hunter, Kearns was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Hillcrest Huskies 5-4. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Haylee Heaton made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Heaton was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sky Aguirre, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Stephani Serna, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Kearns' victory bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Hillcrest, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-9.

Kearns didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-0 defeat against West Jordan on the 29th. As for Hillcrest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 16-1 win against Jordan on the 29th.
