Basketball Recap: Kayleb Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Florida over Destin

West Florida lost against Destin back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The West Florida Jaguars fell 53-45 to the Destin Sharks. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

West Florida lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kayleb Johnson, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jack Korec, who scored seven points in addition to seven boards and three blocks.

Destin found their leader in sophomore Calix McCune, who put up 21 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Crawford, who had eight points and five rebounds.

West Florida's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Destin, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

West Florida wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 70-56 defeat against Pensacola Catholic on the 11th. As for Destin, they will be taking part in a tournament against Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
