Basketball Recap: Dixon Takes a Loss

Dixon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a 49-33 bruising from the White Oak Vikings. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Dixon saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lily Borden dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Borden a new career-high in rebounds.

Even though they lost, Dixon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Zamarah Rawls continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for White Oak, almost dropping a double-double with 12 points and nine blocks. Rawls is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 16 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was LaMeyah Rogers, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Dixon's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for White Oak, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-10 record this season.

Dixon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 42-27 victory against Richlands on the 13th. As for White Oak, they have also already played their next game, a 38-19 defeat against Swansboro on the 14th.
