Baseball Game Preview: Pitman Pride vs. Turlock Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Pitman will face off against Turlock. The Pride will face off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Pitman has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Turlock will arrive with eight straight victories.

Things were looking good for Pitman after they put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Turlock.

For Turlock's part, Andrew Sevilla spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. Sevilla has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Joshua Ramirez was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

Turlock pushed their record up to 12-5-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Pitman, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pitman has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Turlock struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts.
