Baseball Recap: Santiago's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Santiago ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Jordan Panthers 18-17. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cavaliers considering their one-run performance the game before.

Alex Santillano made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Chris Arceo was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Santiago's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 3-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Isaiah Cortez, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

With the win, Santiago broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-14. As for Jordan, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-14-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Santiago nor Jordan have any future games scheduled.
