Football Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Grosse Pointe South

Grosse Pointe South put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 29-7 margin over the L'Anse Creuse Lancers. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Lancers are ranked 188th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Grosse Pointe South was led to victory by Sam Rouleau and Charlie Michelotti. Rouleau rushed for 118 yards and three TDs on only 11 carries, while Michelotti gained 166 total yards and a touchdown. Michelotti also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making one tackle.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Grosse Pointe South was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 347 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 176 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

Grosse Pointe South's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for L'Anse Creuse, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Blue Devils 9.8, the Panthers 13) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, L'Anse Creuse will challenge rival Utica at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
