Basketball Recap: Loogootee Takes a Loss

Loogootee lost against Orleans back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Loogootee Lions came up short against the Orleans Bulldogs, falling 47-27. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 67th).

Orleans' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alex DeWitt led the charge by going 6 of 10 en route to 14 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Freed, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Loogootee's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Orleans, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Loogootee will face off against Mitchell at 7:30 p.m. on February 14th. Mitchell knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Loogootee likes a good challenge. As for Orleans, they will take on Eastern at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
