Softball Recap: Lake Nona Has No Trouble Against Colonial

Lake Nona won the last time they faced Colonial and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Lions blew past the Grenadiers 15-6. Considering the Lions have won three matchups by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Maria Trujillo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Trujillo was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Lake Nona got a massive performance out of Alexandra Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Rodriguez has posted since back in April of 2024. Valeria Rivera was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Lake Nona was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colonial only posted a batting average of .333.

Lake Nona now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Colonial, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Lake Nona didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-9 victory against Cypress Creek on the 2nd. As for Colonial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-5 win against Freedom on the 2nd.
