Soccer Recap: Marquez Comes Up Short

If Marquez was feeling good fresh off their 4-1 takedown of Maywood CES last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Marquez Gladiators fell just short of the Maywood Academy Nighthawks by a score of 2-1 on Friday. The matchup was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Gladiators couldn't quite close it out.

Marquez's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-4-5. As for Maywood Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-10-1.

Marquez will square off against Mendez at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Maywood Academy, they will challenge Elizabeth at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
