            Softball Recap: Davenport Broncos vs. Haines City Hornets        
        
		
        
        
            Davenport had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Haines City on Wednesday. Davenport was the clear victor by  a  16-1 margin over Haines City. The Broncos haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive  win against them.
 Makayla Gonzalez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run and  allowed only  one  hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. What's more,  she gave up only zero  walks, the fewest she's  had since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

 In other batting news, Davenport let  Riley Cresswell and  Morgan Cresswell run wild. Riley  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-3, while  Morgan  scored two  runs and  stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Those  three  stolen bases gave  Morgan a new career-high.  Anyla Davis also deserves some recognition as  she  scored her first  run of the season.
 Davenport  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .514. They are  a perfect 3-0 when  they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Davenport's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Haines City,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 3-4.
 Coming up, Davenport will head out on the road to  take on  Winter Haven  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Winter Haven has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.45  runs per game on average), something Davenport will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Haines City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Discovery  at 6:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Haines City is facing Discovery at the right time seeing as Discovery is stuck on  a  seven-game losing streak.
