Football Recap: Hayden Tigers vs. Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles
After flying high against Sargent last Friday, Hayden came back down to earth. The Hayden Tigers took a 22-8 bruising from the Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.
Hayden wouldn't let Dayspring Christian Academy keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Hayden can thank Joe Harris and John Bene for forcing both of them.
Dayspring Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Martin out in front who rushed for 155 yards and a touchdown. Martin's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Peyton Coleman was another key player, rushing for 73 yards on only ten carries.
Hayden now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Hayden will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lake County at 7:00 p.m. on September 27th. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, they will host Las Animas at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
