Softball Recap: Miller School of Albemarle Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Miller School of Albemarle proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 18) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Temple Christian Crusaders 3-1. For the Mavericks, this counts as revenge for the 7-6 win the Crusaders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Emelia DelCarmen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 18 Ks. Those 18 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Lani Massarella was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

Miller School of Albemarle pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.7 runs this season. As for Temple Christian, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-4.

Coming up, Miller School of Albemarle will face off against Fredericksburg Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mavericks will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Temple Christian, they will take on Ridgeview Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
