Recap: Leadership Academy Falcons vs. Cornerstone Charter Cardinals

Even though the Leadership Academy Falcons have not done well against the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Leadership Academy blew past Cornerstone Charter 62-29 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Leadership Academy has posted since December 6, 2023.

Leading Leadership Academy to victory were Caden Ryker and Will Martin. Ryker dropped a triple-double on 18 points, ten assists, and 13 steals, while Martin scored 28 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Ryker posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Lukas Blakely, who scored two points along with two blocks.

When it comes to explaining why Cornerstone Charter lost, one person who can't be blamed is D'Trevion Harris. Despite the final result, he scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and four steals. Harris is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season.

The victory (which was Leadership Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 10-8. As for Cornerstone Charter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leadership Academy will take on Piedmont Classical at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Piedmont Classical is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Cornerstone Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop McGuinness at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Bishop McGuinness' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
