Recap: Euclid Panthers vs. Shaker Heights Red Raiders

If the Euclid Panthers were feeling good off their 73-49 takedown of the Mayfield Wildcats on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Euclid took a 67-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shaker Heights on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Despite the loss, Euclid still got an impressive performance from Thai Duncan, who scored 23 points. Duncan scored a full 40.4% of Euclid's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ari Jones was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Euclid's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Shaker Heights, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Euclid has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Cleveland Heights at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Cleveland Heights knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Euclid likes a good challenge. As for Shaker Heights, they will head out on the road to face off against Mentor at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mentor presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Shaker Heights in Ohio (Mentor is ranked 44th, while Shaker Heights is ranked 395th).
