Central City piles up the points against Fullerton

Recap: Central City Bison vs. Fullerton Warriors

The Central City Bison had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past Fullerton, posting a 68-40 victory on the road. Given Central City's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Fullerton is ranked 199th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ayden Zikmund was his usual excellent self, scoring 32 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Karter Negus, who scored 12 points.

Despite the loss, Fullerton saw an underclassman step up: Kane Wetovick scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Terrick Gonsior was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Fullerton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Central City has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. As for Fullerton, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central City will take on Lakeview at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Fullerton, they will head out on the road to face off against Palmer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fullerton is facing Palmer at the right time seeing as Palmer is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
