Softball Recap: San Marcos Victorious

While San Marcos's win against Buena wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Royals sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Lucia Dessert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, San Marcos got a massive performance out of Isa Malarkey, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most runs Malarkey has posted since back in February. Reese Large was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

San Marcos' victory bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Buena, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-15.

San Marcos will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
