Volleyball Recap: North Newton Takes a Loss

North Newton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Tri-County Cavaliers. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Cavaliers when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-15, 25-11.

North Newton's offense was headlined by Rylynn Klemz and Andrijana Barron, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Riley Higgins and her five assists. Barron was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Grace Luck was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 20 digs. She has been hot, having posted 13 or more digs the last five times she's played.

North Newton's loss dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Tri-County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-9 record this season.

North Newton has already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Lowell on the 6th. As for Tri-County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against DeMotte Christian on the 7th.
